Supermarket has now been second cheapest behind Lidl for a month - and it's not Aldi
A supermarket which became cheaper than Aldi for these shopping essentials has outdone the retailer for a fourth week.
After initially becoming the third cheapest retailer behind Lidl and Tesco for the eight items, it then moved into second place and has remained there for a month now.In fact there have been no price changes in this week's comparison at all, which will be welcome news to shoppers who have faced relentless hikes during the cost of living crisis.
More than 20 new high-volume products have also been added to the range, including Soft Spread , Beef & Onion pie and Cheese Tortelloni . Rhian Bartlett, food commercial director at Sainsbury’s, said: “Our own brand products are becoming more and more important to our customers as the cost of living crisis continues to impact so many households up and down the country. This is why we’ve worked to consolidate and rebrand the Stamford Street range to help our customers more easily find it in stores and online.
