Layton Williams will be paired with a male professional
Strictly Come Dancing’s Layton Williams is set to make history on the BBC show as he will be the first male contestant to take to the dance floor in a dress.
According to reports BBC bosses are thrilled that Layton will be breaking new ground on the show, the Mirror reports. A source said: Layton made it clear very early on that he didn’t want to be pinned down to just wearing male costumes. He wanted his Strictly outfits to reflect different sides of his personality and everyone fully supports him on that."
Layton is among 15 contestants putting their best foot forward on the dance floor this year, alongside comedian Les Dennis, broadcaster Angela Rippon, former tennis star Annabel Croft, and soap actors Nigel Harman, Bobby Brazier, Ellie Leach and Adam Thomas. The line-up also includes Paralympic champion Jody Cundy, BBC Asian Network radio host Nikita Kanda, Channel 4 News presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy, and former Love Island star Zara McDermott.
