People have been warned that the adverse weather may lead to flooding and pose a 'danger to life'.
Storm Babet is set to sweep over Scotland and the rest of the UK in the coming days, bringing torrential downpours and strong gusts of wind.
As well as this, gales of up to 70mph are expected to batter northern and eastern coastal areas of Scotland, with forecasters warning that this could cause disruption to travel and public transport. He added: "It is important to stay up to date with warnings from your local flood warning agency as well as the local authorities.
Northern and eastern Scotland will see the effects of the storm first due to persistent rain and strong winds that have been forecast - conditions which have the potential to cause damage to buildings, flooding on roads and disruption to train and bus services. The Met Office has said it's 'increasingly likely' that the heavy rain will be particularly bad in Angus and southeast Grampian, with remote communities at risk of being cut off due to flooded roads.
