'We all love a curry': Restaurant plans for Stockport Pyramid get huge support - but some aren't so sure
News that Stockport's famous pyramid could be turned into a HUGE curry house and banqueting hall took took the town by surprise. The Manchester Evening News revealed that the owner of the award-winning restaurant Royal Nawaab was in 'advanced' talks over making the landmark on the side of the M60 its new home in the north west.
Shoppers in Stockport town centre told the Manchester Evening News they would be thrilled to see the pyramid brought back to life. Joel Sidebotham, 23, who runs the Bank barbershop on Deanery Way said: "I like the idea. It's been empty for ages so anything is better than nothing. Mark Sale, 58, said: "It just needs sorting out. Ever since it was built, I've not liked it to be honest. Something with the glass just doesn't look right. If they can sort it out and make it a look a bit nicer, then I'll support it."
Chris Abbott, 35, from Warrington, but who is a frequent visitor to Stockport, said: "It's too big a space for a restaurant. You would have thought it would have been offices or a business premises seen as that's what it was built for. I've always known it as the Co-op.
