Steven MacLean believes finally finding a settled side can help spark St Johnstone’s season into life.
Now most of his squad are fit, a switch to a three-man defence looks sound and the new boys have got to grips with the Scottish top flight. MacLean said: “I’m happier with the shape of the team now – we look more solid and settled. When you’re searching for results, with a new squad and injuries to contend with, there ends up being a lot of changes. But in the last two games there was only one change to the starting line-up so hopefully we can get a more consistent selection now.
He said: “Dan is making progress but will be doubtful for Motherwell – hopefully he’ll be right the week after. We played a game on Tuesday because we’ve players who needed more minutes to get up to speed.
