A blistering first 45 minutes saw former Warriors’ captain Sean Crighton nod the Sons into an early lead, which was added to by Ross MacLean’s brace and Jinky Hilton’s first Dumbarton goal.
Four first-half goals saw Dumbarton hammer title rivals Stenhousemuir, with boss Stevie Farrell admitting his only disappointment was that his side hadn’t scored more.
“Every time we went up the pitch we looked a threat. The team have started the season well, that’s one defeat in eight. But nobody will get carried away. Sloppy defending from the Warriors’ Nicky Jamieson then let Ross MacLean in on goal, but he hit the side netting with Hilton waiting to tap-in. Great work from Greig Young saw him breeze beyond a challenge and pick out Jinky Hilton, he was denied by a superb Darren Jamieson save - but MacLean reacted quickest to blast into the net.
Carlo Pignatiello outmuscled Kinlay Bilham and picked out Hilton, who did enough to squeeze the ball into the net.
