The McLaren boss believes F1 regulations changes have had a negative impact on racing at low-drag circuits. 📝 Formula_Nerds
McLaren team boss Andrea Stella believes the new ground-effects Formula 1 cars has unintentionally reduced overtaking opportunities at low-drag circuits.In an attempt to reduce dirty air, allowing for cars to follow closer, the regulations changed to move to ground-effects cars for the 2022 season. The change also saw the cars move away from complex designs, such as bargeboards.
However, straights has been an issue for overtaking this season. The FIA reduced the length of DRS zones. This change alongsideWith this change, Stella does not believe it shows limitations of the ground-effects switch. Instead, the Italian says it leads to straightline limitations at low-drag circuits like Jeddah, Spa and Monza.
