A petition has been started in the hope of saving 160 South Shields trees from being felled.
BBC NewsThe trees, alongside the old Marine School in South Shields, could be removed to make way for more than 200 homes at the site.Developer Avant Homes said it was talking to the council and the school about the trees and would continue to do so.
