Manchester United working on deal for Sofyan AmrabatAmrabat, 26, was one of 10 midfielders United shortlisted at the start of the summer but the club have shown a lack of conviction about the Morocco international.
However, with Friday's transfer deadline looming there has been a shift and United are now looking to sign Amrabat on loan, having claimed that if he were to leave Fiorentina it would be for another club.Agency sources indicated United were under-promising ahead of over-delivering, but the possible addition of Amrabat would still raise questions about the club's strategy in the market.Raphael Varane is the latest Manchester United player to be ruled out for "a few weeks".
Varane's lay-off will be mitigated by the upcoming September internationals but the former France international has suffered nine injuries and ailments since he joined United two years ago. The timing of the 30-year-old's injury further decreases the chances of Harry Maguire leaving United. Although Victor Lindelof will likely deputise for Varane against Arsenal, Maguire is the sole senior centre-back United have in reserve.
