IOPC are looking into a complaints of racial discrimination and excessive use of force
THE POLICE watchdog has announced an investigation into six Metropolitan police officers after an elderly Black woman was handcuffed and put in a spit hood.
The elderly woman was physically detained and placed in handcuffs and then a spit hood was applied, but she was not arrested. In May this year, the Independent Office for Police Conduct announced a probe would take place but has now confirmed that the six officers involved are under investigation. The police watchdog is also investigating a complaint that excessive and unreasonable force was used against the woman and an allegation that officers discriminated against the woman due to her race, gender, age and disability.
