All eyes will be on Hampden Park on Tuesday night as Scotland and England face off in a special 150th anniversary match that has been billed a "competitive friendly" by boss Steve Clarke.
Scotland 7-2 England, March 2, 1878 Played at the first incarnation of Hampden Park - now the site of the Hampden Bowling Club at the junction of Queen's Drive and Cathcart Road - this early friendly encounter saw Scotland notch up their biggest victory over England to date. Okay, so it wasn't a victory, but it certainly felt like one until deep into stoppage time when Harry Kane popped up to leave us all wondering what might have been.
Scotland 1-0 England, May 25, 1985 This Rous Cup tie marks the last time Scotland defeated England on home turf. The victory put Scotland level in the head-to-head stakes with the Auld Enemy, with the two nations having beaten each other 40 times apiece. The current head-to-head record has England on 48 wins, with Scotland on 41 and 26 games ending in a draw.
Scotland 2-0 England, April 14, 1962 An epic Scotland side containing the likes of Denis Law, Jim Baxter, Billy McNeill and Ian St John sent Bobby Charlton and co home tae think again as the hosts went some way to avenging the record 9-2 walloping inflicted upon them at Wembley the previous year.
