But what if the rest of your children feel sidelined as a result? A woman has taken to Mumsnet for a sense check after her parents have decided to help her brother out of debt by selling their house, moving in with him, and giving all the money from the sale to him, rather than splitting the money equally between the brother and his two sisters.
‘My sister doesn’t have a very good relationship with our parents anyway and this is just the cherry on top of the cake. I think their relationship will be almost over. ‘I am really unhappy because it’s going to divide us as a family.’ She points out that, when her father first got sick when her brother was just a teen, she and her sister were the ones who stepped in and helped them financially without asking for anything in return.
