Sinéad O’Connor made a truly heart-wrenching promise that she would stop performing, following the devastating death of her 17 year old son Shane in January 2022. She told her fans that there would "never be anything to sing about again".
As the music industry mourns the loss of such a singular performer - Sinéad was most recently featured singing the title theme on the Outlander season seven credits - it turns out that the star had struggled to return to her passion after losing her teenage child. “May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace."
The statement read that the star would be taking a much-needed break from her gruelling work schedule “due to continuing to grief over the tragic loss of her beloved son Shane”.
