An empty office and flat could be turned into a restaurant and six studio flats
Shoppers have said a new restaurant may face stiff competition in a 'busy' Nottinghamshire town. An empty office and flat in Stoney Street, Beeston, could be turned into a restaurant and six studio flats, if plans are approved by Broxtowe Borough Council.
Locals welcomed the plans for another venue, but said it would have to have a specialism or difference to stand out among the many cafes and restaurants in the area. Stephen Bowley, 75, a retiree from Breaston, said: "There are a lot of eateries in Beeston. It is a busy town but I am not quite sure there are enough people to support all these places."Most of the shops now are cafes so it will need to bring something different to be a success.
"There's plenty of variety in Beeston already so they will have to do something extremely well or uniquely. It is a nice little area to have somewhere - it's just whether it will be popular enough."
