Classic toys from the 90s and noughties are making a comeback

Nostalgic shoppers are heading to the high street to purchase iconic toys of the past, with Argos seeing an increase in searches for all things retro following the release of the Barbie movie and our resurgence for classic toys. Shoppers are once again in love with timeless toy classics, with a 123% increase in the sale of the original virtual pet Tamagotchi and a 371% increase in the sale of the 90’s furry favourite Furby’s in the last month.

Fay Williams, Head of Toy Buying for Argos said: “With all the hype around Barbie, we expected consumer demand for such products to increase, but it’s brilliant to see the impact it has had on the retro toy category more generally and with the recent relaunch of Furby and the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, we anticipate the love for all things retro to continue.

In the run up to the bank holiday Argos has released a string of offers. You can save up to one third on toys - ideal for shoppers hoping to make a head start on their Christmas shopping.
