Residents were advised to keep their windows shut due to smoke in the area
At around 11.18pm last night, fire crews raced to King Street after receiving over 25 reports of a building on fire.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service worked through the night to extinguish the blaze at the building which is understood to be the Royal Burgh House.Photographs show that the fire has now been extinguished but has caused significant damage to the building.There have been no casualties as a result of the incident.At around 8am today, a spokesperson for the SFRS said on Twitter:"Our crews are in attendance at a fire affecting a building on King Street, Rutherglen.
