Millions of people watched the first season
The BBC has confirmed critically-acclaimed TV series Sherwood will return after the success of the first season which aired in June 2022. Filming for the second series of the hit program is set to start in 2023.
The drama has been recommissioned by the BBC for a second series which will once again look at pit villages and surrounding towns in Nottinghamshire. Sherwood series 2 will consist of six episodes but there is no confirmed start date for filming. James Graham says: “I’ve been so deeply moved by the response to Sherwood. These stories come from my home, and I want to specifically express gratitude to my community for whom I know these subjects can be difficult, but - I hope - important ones to explore.
The new series will be produced by House Productions with James Graham writing all six episodes. James will also executive produce alongside Juliette Howell, Tessa Ross and Harriet Spencer for House Productions and Ben Irving for the BBC.
