Glenister is playing Tony, a 50-something cab driver, who used to be a well-respected teacher but is now coming to terms with his life after losing his job, marriage and confidence.Packer plays café-worker Rosa, who Tony forms a growing attachment towards, and Pertwee takes on the role of talk-show host Lawrence, who Tony spends his nights listening to while driving his passengers around the city.
After spending several evenings listening to the show, Tony finally decides to phone in and become a 'friend of the show'. However, it's not long before he begins to misinterpret Lawrence's world view, developing an unhealthy obsession with the radio host.
