Neighbours say you can 'always hear people beeping'
"You can always hear people beeping." Residents at the vast Rivendell housing estate off the A612 Colwick Loop Road knew what they were signing up for when they moved to the development beside the busy road.
Police are aware of concerns over speeding and anti-social driving and have carried out operations on the road itself and the nearby Victoria Retail Park. Drivers have been stopped and police have been checking cars which have been modified. Letters have also been given to drivers behaving irresponsibly, with police making said drivers aware their details will be recorded should they come to police attention again over similar issues.
Similarly, Matthew Wells, 29, said: “Mainly at night, it’s noisy. It probably starts at around six or seven and goes through the night. There’s been a few accidents. I’d say it’s not too bad in the day - you do get the odd person speeding because of the type of road it is. It’s mainly the noise.” “In response to residents’ concerns we have held high-visibility operations around the Colwick Loop Road and Victoria Retail Park in Netherfield, with officers conducting stop checks, engaging with drivers and checking on the condition of modified vehicles.
“I would also urge members of the public to report incidents to us so that we can take appropriate action and this will also help us as we continue to work closely with Gedling Borough Council to improve road safety and tackle antisocial behaviour.”
