The exchanges between Scottish ministers and officials during the pandemic will be passed to the inquiry within a week, although it is unclear how many will eventually be published.
She added that in cases where it was apparent that potentially relevant messages had been deleted, advice would be taken on whether they could be recovered.Last week, the inquiry’s legal team said not a single message from WhatsApp or other messaging apps had been disclosed, raising concerns that “very few” had been retained.
Ms Robison clarified the Government’s position after Margaret Waterton, who lost her mother and husband to Covid, described the situation as “shameful”.She told MSPs that more than 19,000 documents had already been provided to the inquiry, including emails, advice to ministers and papers from key decision-making meetings.
“I can confirm that work is well underway to fully comply in accordance with the timetable set by the UK inquiry. This will mean that all requested messages held will be shared, in full and unredacted, by 6 November,” Ms Robison said.
