Three-month-old Hugo had been playing in the garden of his West Lothian home when he suddenly bolted through a gate as it was opening on Saturday afternoon.
A heartbroken Scots mum has told how she desperately tried to save the family’s French Bulldog puppy after he was involved in an alleged 'hit and run'.
The mum-of-three, from Bo’ness, claims the driver it wasn’t his fault before leaving the scene and has not yet apologised. She said: “I can’t understand why he didn’t just stop. There was no remorse on his face and no sympathy for the family. “My son Joseph was hysterical and Hugo was just lying in the road. I ran towards Hugo, fell to the ground and scooped him up. It was like it was happening in slow motion.
“But when my daughter chased after his car, he got back in and left. Amyleigh was shouting ‘stop that motor, he’s run my puppy down’. She was screaming for help.”
