Jennifer McLellan was able to board a military flight from Khartoum - but was forced to leave her husband behind

A mum and her four kids are on their way home to be reunited with family in Scotland after escaping war-torn Sudan.

He said: “We’re all relieved but we’re only partially relieved. Mo did a wonderful job of getting them to safety and then they’ve had to stand back and watch him walk back into danger.“Mo drove them to the airport and had to leave with less fuel and food than before. His resources are seriously depleted.Jennifer and her family were struggling to make contact with Mo yesterday after receiving initial confirmation he had made it home.

“We have had so many people get in touch to offer support on the back of Jennifer’s story. We have a safe place for the family to go if they can get to Egypt.” The first flight carrying British nationals landed at Stansted Airport yesterday afternoon. The Titan Air flight ZT4820 is believed to be transporting all the UK nationals from Larnaca airport.

They were met with gunfire after their tyre blew out and were also forced to pay demands for hundreds of pounds to be driven to safety by local men. Tens of thousands of Sudanese and foreign nationals have been trying to flee during the tenuous ceasefire.
