Much of the country will be hit with subzero temps over the next fortnight
Scotland is set to be hit with more sub-zero temperatures as a pool of frozen air over the Arctic makes its way in the coming weeks January. Freezing conditions are expected to be on their way plunging to -9C by next weekend.
Exacta Weather forecaster James Madden said: "A Sudden Stratospheric Warming event is now looking even more likely to occur this winter and this could happen as soon as in the next 10 days or so. Experts have predicted a collapsing Polar vortex could trigger a major freeze this month, likening it to February 2018 when the Beast from the East hit our shores. With many still reluctant to turn on the heating in the cost of living crisis, the cold blast is predicted to cause problems.
