Preston schoolboy 'lucky to be alive' after being mown down by van on zebra crossing
A schoolboy, 10, was left bloodied and bruised after being mown down on a problem-hit zebra crossing while on his way home from class.
“He [later said], ‘I was on my bike one minute – and then I was on the cobbles and everybody was picking me up.’” “I’ve said to Talha, ‘Don’t cross the road until you’ve actually seen the cars have stopped – even if the car is slowing down, just wait [on the pavement].’ The road has a 20 mph speed limit and there are speed humps on the approach to the exiting crossing point.
In response, Cardinal Newman principal Nick Burnham reiterated that the college was closed at the time of Talha’s accident.
