It would cost more to repair the 1960s bridge, Scarborough councillors are told.
The bridge was built in the late 1960s but was closed for safety reasons in 2020
The bridge, which provided pedestrian access to the North Bay promenade from Burniston Road, closed in 2020 due to safety concerns.Officers have said repairing it would be considerably more expensive than removing it., the planning committee in January deferred a decision following numerous objections from members of the public and councillors.
