Kevin Kahan, from Stockbridge Lane in Donaghadee, is standing trial for dangerous driving causing grievous bodily injury on December 10, 2019.The incident involving Kahan's silver Honda S2000 and an Audi A5 driven by a retired police officer allegedly occurred on a stretch of the A2 Bangor to Donaghadee road known locally as the "Groomsport Bypass".
The motorist - who sustained numerous injuries in the collision including a serious head wound and fractures to his ribs and nose - confirmed there was heavy rain that day. This claim was rejected by defence barrister Mark Farrell, who said it was Kahan's case he was driving around 40mph.
