Elena Whitham said she hoped the UK Government would not attempt to block a pilot safe drug consumption room opening in Glasgow.
Safe consumption rooms could be opened where ever they are needed in Scotland if a pilot scheme proves they can work, an SNP minister has said.
It followed a statement yesterday from Scotland's top law officer which said it would not be in the public interest to prosecute individuals for possession who were using such facilities. Asked if similar facilities could be opened in other Scots cities, Whitham said: "There are over 100 of these around the world and we already know there is a huge body of evidence that they do save lives.
