Lynne Elizabeth Kemp 'had a very soft interior and she was warm-hearted'
Tributes have been made to a devoted magistrate and ‘warm-hearted’ grandmother who ‘had a very strong sense of justice and fair play’.
“She was quite forthright and direct. She was very active and busy up until the last year of her life.“She had a very soft interior and she was warm-hearted.” The couple enjoyed their time working at the cafe and Martin says they had a lovely customer base and met some very nice people who remained loyal even during the difficulties through covid.
She worked out of Reedley Magistrates’ Court and also sat in Blackburn Magistrates’ Court as well as Burnley Magistrates’ Court. Lynne dedicated her time to giving back to the community and became the treasurer and trustee at Bacup Family Centre ten years ago. Martin began a business in Rawtenstall called Kingfisher with John and Trisha Calway where Lynne worked in the late 70s. The couple got married on December 30 1983 at Newchurch Methodist Church in Waterfoot where she regularly attended for 30 years.
