A Ryanair Boeing 737 had to land at short notice in Bordeaux
A Ryanair flight from Liverpool to Ibiza was grounded in the south of France. The mid-journey diversion was made at short notice and met by police on the runway.
The Boeing 737 aircraft had set off from Liverpool John Lennon Airport at 12.40pm on Tuesday with an end destination of Ibiza. But shortly after an hour of the journey had gone by, the flight diverted towards Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport in the south of France. It landed there at 3.29pm local time. The plane was met by police on the tarmac, the ECHO reports. And footage from the flight appeared to show one man being removed from the plane by officers.Ryanair has now confirmed the reason the flight was diverted was due to a passenger becoming 'disruptive inflight'. A spokesperson from the airline said: “This flight from Liverpool to Ibiza diverted to Bordeaux after a passenger became disruptive inflight.
"Crew called ahead for police assistance and the aircraft was met by local police upon arrival who removed the passenger. The flight continued to Ibiza following a short delay. This is now a matter for local police."
