Candidates from the Scottish Liberal Democrats and the Scottish Socialist Party have given their views on the controversial issue.

“Now their new plan is to embed it, extend the lifetime of the current unfair system and hit almost a quarter of households with a massive extra bill at the worst possible time.“The government should instead back Scottish Liberal Democrat plans that would deliver the power surge which councils need and end the underfunding of local government once and for all.”Bill Bonnar instead called for a Scottish Service Tax based on people’s incomes.
“For example, a tax of 4.5 per cent on the income between £12,000 and £30,000; 10 per cent tax on the income bracket from £30-50,000 and 20 per cent Service Tax on all income above £100,000.
