Ruth Wilson's new BBC detective drama gets first trailer
, examines the shocking legacy of Ireland's inhumane institutions known as The Magdalene Laundries through Wilson's character Lorna Brady.
The story focuses on Lorna, who wakes up to find a corpse of a woman in her house with no memory of who she is or whether she murdered her.Lorna also suffers from sleepwalking, stemming from her time at the fictional Kilkinure Convent, where her daughter was cruelly taken away from her, and she is also pursued by Detective Colman Akande , who is seemingly after her for an unrelated crime.
The first trailer gives a glimpse at the dark drama to come, as Lorna's voice whispers over a series of brief clips, including herself waking up in the middle of the road, as well as a letter revealing someone knows what happened to her child. Speaking about the series previously, creator Joe Murtagh said he was "frustrated" that so few knew about the Laundries.
