💬 Russians in London quietly undermine Putin from afar, in opposition to war in Ukraine

“They came to my parents house looking for me,” says Andrew, a recent arrival from Moscow who, like many others, preferred to give only a first name to avoid trouble for family in Russia.

Speakers emphasised the importance of taking a public stand against the Russian regime. “This show of resistance is important now, more than ever,” said activist Sasha Ozornin. “For the world to see us, to see that there are Russian people who are fundamentally against what the criminal government is doing, against this evil barbarism, and that we support Ukrainians in their fight for their lives, lands and freedoms.

“It’s important for us to unite and also to show the UK audience that we exist,” said Ksenia Maximova, a former supermodel who has shot Gucci campaigns, walked designer runways and now leads the RDS. “Russian people in London are against the war. I have not met anyone who supports it.”
