BREAKING: According to the UK, a Russian fighter jet recently fired its weapons near an unarmed RAF plane in international airspace near Ukraine.
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said two SU-27 fighters ‘interacted with’ the British RC-135, a large manned surveillance jet typically used to intercept signals.
One of them then fired a missile ‘beyond visual range’ of the RC-135 somewhere over the Black Sea, he told MPs on Thursday. RAF crews have been deployed in the Nato taskforce securing Europe’s borders with Russia and the Ukrainian warzone, although it’s not clear whether this jet was part of such a mission.
