RUPA HUQ was reinstated as a Labour MP following support from several anti-racism campaigners following remarks she made about ex-Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng.
Ms Huq, who apologised last September when the story broke, issued a fresh apology. Speaking in the Commons, she said: “During my suspension I have reflected on the offence caused by my remarks at last year’s Labour Party Conference and I want to offer, once again, my sincere apologies to everyone affected.
The MP for Ealing Central and Acton, in west London, attracted support from the pastor of a Baptist church, the Black community group Descendents, and the United Anglo Caribbean Society.that West London Stand Up To Racism wrote to Sir Keir Starmer saying that Ms Huq had attended and supported rallies over George Floyd’s murder in Ealing, adding: “In the recent case, we believe that she made a poor choice of words for which she has, quite rightly, apologised.
