BREAKING: Ex-rugby league star Ricky Bibey found dead in Florence hotel alongside injured woman.
A British man found dead in a Florence hotel room, alongside a seriously injured woman, has been named as former Rugby League star Ricky Bibey.
The 40-year-old’s body was discovered in his room by staff at the four-star Hotel Continentale on Saturday morning. He is reported to have arrived in Italy on Friday night with the 43-year-old woman, thought to be his partner.Forensic teams were seen at the luxury hotel, located a short walk from the Ponte Vecchio in the city’s historic centre.
An investigation has been launched by Italian detectives. Hotel staff could not provide any information regarding the incident. A Foreign Office spokesperson said: ‘We are in touch with the Italian police following the death of a British man in Florence.’
