Manchester City were well below their best for much of the game against Sevilla but recovered to win the Super Cup
Mancheser City fans like to sing about not being really here but it was their team who went missing in Athens for an hour.
City managed to put in some decent performances in their friendlies and Erling Haaland's awareness gave them a convincing start to the defence of their Premier League title at Burnley on Friday night.
It was far from just Walker as well. With John Stones and Ruben Dias not playing after their recent injuries, Josko Gvardiol endured a difficult full debut on his first start since his £77m move and Manu Akanji struggled to master either role as the man tasked with fulfilling the Stones duties. Then up popped Cole Palmer. The 21-year-old, given a big opportunity to show what he could do in the role of Riyad Mahrez, had started brightly in the game but then faded back to the level of last season where he wasn't as decisive as he needed to be.
That did not faze Sevilla, who have a remarkable knack of winning games in continental competitions and who had won last season's Europa League on penalties. City's last shootout saw them comprehensively beaten by Arsenal.
