The theatre company have also performing The Secret Garden and Sense and Sensibility across the county
The Chapterhouse Theatre Company have outdone themselves this summer with a range of fantastic outdoor performances across the county, including the brilliant and witty performance of The Importance of Being Earnest at Newark Castle.
Audience members were able to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on for this show, which took place with the stunning backdrop of Newark Castle. As beautiful as the set and costumes were, it was also lovely to be able to watch the castle itself transform as the sun set. The performance began at 7pm and the entire production had the audience members in stitches of laughter throughout, with each cast member giving a lively performance. Due to the show being outside with minimal resources, it was also impressive to see how the cast were able to project their voices whilst still showing a range of emotions rather than just shouting.
This was the first outdoor performance I have been to, and thanks to the glorious weather it is something I hope to do again. , including Wollaton Hall and Deer Park, Cresswell Crags and Newstead Abbey.
