Colne restaurant legend Carlo Lionti dies as community pays tribute to a 'devoted, wonderful man'
Tributes have been paid following the death of much-loved restaurant owner and councillor, Carlo Lionti, who passed away peacefully at his home.
The statement read: "After the devastating news last night, we have made the difficult decision to keep the restaurant doors open until further notice, as this is what Carlo would of wanted. One wrote: "Such sad news, Carlo was a pioneer in hospitality within Pendle and has marked the cornerstones of many of the most important times of mine and my friends and family's life, no place comes near in this area for ambiance, constant quality, service and value, he'll be missed and remembered by many many people, thank you for your service to your industry and community."
Pendle MP, Andrew Stephenson, said it was a privilege to know Carlo, and paid his own tribute to him. Mr Stephenson said: "Very sad to hear that Carlo Lionti, the owner of Carlo's Restaurant in Colne and local Conservative Councillor has died. Over the 16 year I have lived in Colne I’ve had the privilege of knowing Carlo. A wonderful man, a great host & someone who cared so much about our local area.
“Carlo loved being a councillor and it meant a lot to him to serve the people of Pendle which he did with passion. He was a real community man who always had time for others and went out of his way in doing so. I will miss him as he was always there for me to offer advice and guidance and had the magic of making difficult things seem so simple.
