Red Wall split between Boris Johnson backers and those 'fed up' with the Tory Party 💬 ‘Everybody thinks it’s a complete farce, it’s a joke,’ a voter tells i. ‘There shouldn’t be a Tory who isn’t embarrassed by this shambles’

Fran Wheeldon, 31, who runs the Bear coffee shop in Holmfirth, is equally appalled by the meltdown in Downing Street.

Asked what he thinks about the prospect of Mr Johnson returning, Mr Wintersgill says: “If they get somebody back in they’ve kicked out it just shows how rotten the Tory party is.” “Out of all of them, I would rather have Boris back. I don’t think he did a bad job, he took over coming out of Brexit and he did a good job in the end.”

Given the frenzied pace of events unfolding in Westminster in recent days, some people were not yet aware that Mr Johnson was in the running for a comeback.. “No not Boris!” Carole Senior says. “It would surprise me if he got back in, I would find it embarrassing.”But Claire says: “I can see Boris coming back, that’s just how this country rolls! It wouldn’t shock me in the slightest but it’s just embarrassing, after Partygate and all the lies.
