The 50-year-old spent a season at Ibrox and there are claims Down Under he is being lined up by Gers.
Rangers sources have shot down a report that the club’s former defender Kevin Muscat is being “considered" as a candidate to replace Michael Beale.
Record Sport believe there is “no truth whatsoever” in the claim the Australian has been contacted by Light Blues chiefs. Pressure has increased on Beale since Sunday’s 1-0 derby defeat to Celtic. Muscat has been installed as 7/2 favourite to become Beale’s successor with bookmaker Sports Lens, if the Englishman pays the price for a stuttering start to the season.
Muscat was part of Alex McLeish’s Rangers Treble-winning side 20 years ago after moving to Ibrox from Wolves and the 50-year-old has carved out an impressive managerial career, having also worked under former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou. He won the J-League with Yokohama F Marinos last season after succeeding Postecoglou, as he had at Melbourne Victory where he worked for six years. But his only spell in Europe was short-lived when he had a stint at Belgian side Sint-Truiden.
