More than £160,000 was raised at the event held in memory of the late Hornets manager watfordfc
The Roeder family presented a cheque for more than £160,000 to The Brain Tumour Charity’s Sally Williams at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Course on Wednesday The money was raised at fundraising event held at the July Course this summer in honour of the former Hornets, West Ham, Newcastle and Norwich boss who died from the disease in February 2021 at the age of 65.
Fundraising activities at the Glenn Roeder Raceday in July extended beyond the VIP marquee where 360 guests took part in a live auction, prize draws and competitions to an international online auction supported by leading sports personalities and organisations, bucket collections at venues around the UK and a JustGiving page in the name of Glenn Roeder.
Sally, the charity’s philanthropy manager, said: “Everyone at The Brain Tumour Charity has been completely blown away by the incredible support from The Glenn Roeder Race Day and the quite remarkable amount raised from such a fantastic event. “I was fortunate to attend the race day in July and could feel the genuine love and respect for Glenn, Holly and the whole family which was also clearly demonstrated by the huge amount raised.”
The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s largest dedicated funder of pioneering research into brain tumours. The Charity also raises awareness of the signs and symptoms of the disease to reduce diagnosis times and provides vital support and information to those with a brain tumour diagnosis now.
