Hundreds of workers who deliver food to Burger King,The GMB union said the majority of members employed by Bestfood who took part in the ballot were in favour of industrial action.National officer Nadine Houghton said: ‘The parent companies of Bestfood – Booker and Tesco – are making serious money.
‘Shareholders are trousering large dividends, while the people who do the graft are struggling to make ends meet.‘Now some of the best-known restaurants on the UK’s high streets will face shortages over Christmas.’ Bestfood drivers who deliver to Pizza Express and Zizzi are reportedly also expected to announce strike dates.Pub workers from the GMB union have also vowed to strike has denied being a Grinch stealing Christmas from travellers over the move.
The four 48-hour actions on December 13/14 and 16/17 and January 3/4 and 6/7 will be made worse for families, workers and party-goers by an overtime ban from December 18 to January 2 – and engineering works from December 23 to January 3.More:
