The Howwood Inn, formerly the Railway Inn, wanted to form an outdoor terrace at the side of its venue in George Street.board at the end of August, but a decision was put on hold for a site visit.
It was revisited at this month’s meeting and local councillors Chris Gilmour and Andy Doig moved to reject the plans. They expressed concern about the impact it would have on road safety in the area, with the intersection of George Street and Main Street - just outside the pub - said to be a busy spot for traffic.An official notice of refusal was issued earlier this month, which said: “The proposed development is considered contrary to policy P1 of the Renfrewshire local development plan 2021 on the basis that it would detrimental to road safety in the local area.
