The PSNI officer was arrested on Tuesday in Belfast on suspicion of a number of offences.
A serving PSNI officer has been arrested in Belfast on suspicion of offences which include paying for sexual services.
The officer has also been arrested on suspicion of committing the offence of misconduct in public office for alleged abuse of position for sexual purposes and unauthorised access to PSNI computer systems contrary to Section 1 & 2 of the Computer Misuse Act. The Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland, currently Mrs Marie Anderson, investigates complaints from citizens about the conduct of police officers.
Although none of the Ombudsman's staff are employed by the PSNI, they do have some of the same legal powers as police officers.
