ACC Chris Todd told reporters in Belfast that the Chief Constable Simon Byrne, who is on a summer break, is aware of the issue
The Police Service of Northern Ireland has apologised after information about all of the force’s serving officers and staff was published in a data breach which was online for around two and a half hours.
“As soon as we confirmed it, we got in touch with the host provider and ensured that the information was taken down, and initiated an investigation for the Information Commissioner. “An initial notification has been made to the office of the Information Commissioner regarding the data breach. “This is an issue we take extremely seriously and as our investigation continues we will keep the Northern Ireland Policing Board and the Information Commissioner’s Office updated.”
“That will be, still, a significant concern to many of my colleagues, I know that, and we will ensure that we do everything we can to mitigate any security risks that are identified.”
