The head of the Met Police has disclosed that officers are investigating whether prison guards helped Daniel Khalife to escape from Wandsworth prison. The focus of the search today is on a park in southwest London - close to a flat owned by the terror suspect's family.
Before we bring you any more updates on the hunt for Daniel Khalife, here's a recap of the key moments since Wednesday:
Police are looking at whether he was assisted by prison guards, other inmates or people on the outside; "This is a massive operation, well into three figures of officers involved," Sir Mark told LBC's Nick Ferrari. Asked why the police waited until 3.30pm on Wednesday to alert the public to the escape, Mr Rowley said opening the phone lines can"generate a lot of noise", not just helpful tips.
James Cleverly's comments come after calls from Charlie Taylor, chief inspector of prisons, for Wandsworth prison to be shut down. Overnight, helicopters were"circling the edges of the park" but it is"a very big grassy area; it is very easy to conceal yourself there if you know where you are going". Yesterday, Scotland Yard said there had been no confirmed sightings of Khalife since his escape despite the police receiving more than 50 calls from the public.Welcome back to our live coverage of the search for fugitive terror suspect Daniel Abed Khalife.
