Just a year before Princess Diana's tragic death, Prince William made a promise to his beloved mum following her divorce from Charles which saw her HRH titles ripped away
The Prince of Wales, who was just 14 at the time, reportedly vowed to get his adored mum's title back after she was stripped of Her Royal Highness following her divorce from the now King Charles.
In 1996, Diana and Charles got divorced which came almost a year after she infamously said there were "three of us" in her marriage - in reference to his love for Camilla - during a tell-all BBC Panorama interview. Losing her HRH titles meant that friends and staff would no longer need to bow or curtsey in front of Diana, while she would still have to curtsey to her ex-husband and two sons, along with other members of the Royal Family.
