A new development
Developers, Caro Developments Ltd, have their sights set on an area of land adjacent to the former Preston Divisional Police. The location on Lawson Street and Walker Street is currently occupied by a building with a car park on the ground floor.
The site is located at the back of Preston's magistrates courts which is a very short walk away from Preston Indoor Market. In their proposals, applicants state 'the proposed brief is to develop a high quality student accommodation scheme, offering approximately 250 student studio bedrooms, as well as access to extensive amenity facilities including a gym, games area and study zone'.
The remains of the expansive site were demolished on 1965, making way for new developments. Plans for the nine and seven storey blocks include a welcome area on the ground floor with access to the resident’s study zone, cinema, gym and laundry rooms.
