A third of last year's Perth and Kinross fourth year pupils had tried vaping and figures are rising substantially across Scotland's children 'especially for girls'
Pressure is mounting in Perth and Kinross for a ban on disposable vapes following an "alarming upsurge" of schoolchildren using disposable e-cigarettes.
Perth and Kinross Council has insisted vaping - like smoking - is prohibited on its school grounds and buses. The WHO added: "Exposing children and adolescents to nicotine can have long-lasting, damaging effects on brain development and lead to nicotine addiction." And current e-cigarette use among 15-year-olds in Scotland increased from seven per cent in 2018 to 25 per cent in 2022.
"E-cigarettes emit particulates and include toxic chemicals that have not been safety tested for inhalation and could damage lung health over time. Pupils vaping on buses or within school buildings should be discouraged through educating students about the risks posed by use of disposable e-cigarettes to both health and the environment.
"Though they are thought to be helpful for people making an attempt to stop smoking, e-cigarettes are not products for children and young people or non-smokers.
