Premier League side set to get Christmas off because of bizarre winter 'bonus'
Brentford manager Thomas Frank plans to give his players Christmas off thanks to an unexpected quirk in the fixture list.'s participation in this season's Club World Cup.have won their last three, and Frank wants to take the unprecedented step of giving his players some time off during an intense period.give Brentford a unique bonus. The original fixture, set to take place on December 23, has been postponed, with a new date yet to be determined.
After hosting Aston Villa on December 17, Brentford won't return to action until December 27, when they'll host Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Gtech Community Stadium.Rather than do that, Frank is considering shutting the training ground on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, which will delight his players.Interestingly, Brentford will not play an away game outside of London for two months after they visit Bramall Lane for a clash with Sheffield United on December 9.
"I’m so pleased with the mentality of the players - being 2-1 down in a Premier League game is always difficult to turn around," Frank told"We started the first half, we went 1-0 up, then they scored two goals - the first one is a great goal. The last 10 minutes before the break, we were more on top, creating chances and opportunities.
